BNB chain’s new star Aster has rapidly reshaped the landscape of decentralized exchange (DEX) and is rattling even its strongest competitors.
Aster, the platform’s native token, surprised the market with a surge of 2,200% in just a week, but rival Hyperliquid’s hype tokens slid 25% over the same period.
One of the loudest voices in favour of Aster is James Wynn, a trader who is notorious for his $100 million wipeout on Hyper Liquid earlier this year. Still, Win has He turned his stance overcalling Aster the “future of trading” and warns that high lipids will face “slow and painful death.” His shift has gained traction among traders who have seen Aster’s eclipse almost overnight at his aging rival.
Behind the hype, the numbers are phenomenal. Aster handled a permanent transaction volume of $24 billion over 24 hours. This is over 24 hours, collecting $10 million in daily revenue. According to Defilama, the numbers temporarily put the circle on top, highlighting how quickly newcomers are climbing the ranks of global crypto projects.
Part of the appeal of Aster is its design. Built to protect traders from the same MEV attacks that burned traders Wynn with high lipids, this exchange offers hidden orders and MEV-free execution, protecting their positions from being exposed in chains. This “dark pool” style feature resonates with whales, who have recently withdrawn over $400 million in asters from exchanges, indicating a growing confidence in the long-term value of the token.
Adding fuel to the story, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao openly supports the project, describing it as a step towards a more equitable and safer transaction. Marketwatchers see this support as a key factor in Aster’s ferocious momentum, suggesting that some CZs are aiming to place the platform as a flagship within the BNB chain ecosystem.
Meanwhile, high lipids are scrambled to react. The recent launch of USDH Stablecoin is seen as an attempt to strengthen activities and regain market share, but so far there has been little effort to offset Aster’s aggressive progress.
Wynn proves that the prediction of Hyperliquid’s end-of-mise remains true, but one thing is clear. Aster has fallen into the spotlight and the competition is now catching up.
