Solana’s first chain extension, Sonic SVM, launched a hackathon to encourage the development of native, distributed applications and invited judges to evaluate submissions. Mobius Hackathon is offering prizes to teams who create Dapps on the Sonic Chain, which optimizes the game that the mainnet is now on February 27th.
Sonic’s first dedicated hackathon features a $1 million worth of prize pool to reward builders of new applications ranging from games to Defi. The first online hackathon will start on February 17th and run until March 14th, with Sonic Mainnet going live by that time.
Four hackathon tracks have been selected, and teams are expected to develop applications that fall into one of the following categories:
Attention Capital Market: User acquisition, content tokenization across social media platforms such as Tiktok, Instagram, WhatsApp, Rednote.
defi: Asset LaunchPad, trading bots, yield generation, lending, MEV.
AI: Agent aggregators, tools, initial agent provision, and other infrastructure.
game: Mini games, social games, focus, high-earp games.
Sonic is seeking a panel of judges to evaluate submissions based on a variety of criteria, including technical depth and practical applications to determine real-world survival rates. It also provides constructive feedback to help every team acquire value from the experience and optimize their applications.
By highlighting areas of excellence and improvement, the judge cultivates a positive learning environment in which all participants benefit from hackathons. In addition to showing enthusiasm with builders and working as mentors, judges are expected to work on social media.
By sharing social media updates, engaging participants and promoting outstanding projects, judges will increase awareness of the caliber of applications being developed in Sonic SVM. Along the way, they will help shine a spotlight on the industry’s most promising team of developers.
Once the month-long event is complete, the judge panel will evaluate submissions before announcing the winners on April 2nd. The $1 million Mobius Hackathon highlights the network’s ability to scale Solana by providing dedicated layers for high-performance, distributed applications, whilst catalyzing the development of sonic applications.
