Feds Charge Brothers in Alleged $8 Million Crypto Kidnapping of Minnesota Family

U.S. federal prosecutors in Minnesota accused two Texas brothers of stoking Minnesota families and stealing $8 million by code, according to a filing Thursday by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Minnesota area US lawyers’ office accused 23-year-old Raymond Christian Garcia and 24-year-old Isaiah Angelo Garcia of using an AR-15-style rifle and shotgun to a family grant in Minnesota, tied up their wife and son, and detained them until they transferred their race to a digital wallet. DOJ did not reveal which digital coins were particularly stolen.

The ordeal led to the cancellation of a homecoming soccer match. Grant is located in the eastern part of the state, about 45 minutes from Minneapolis.

“The violent temptation that steals $8 million and silences the homecoming game is not just a crime. It’s a blow to the safety of everyone in Minnesota,” said lawyer Joseph H. Thompson.

He added: “This is not normal. Minnesotans should not normally embrace wild violence and burglars. All Minnesotans deserve to live in peace and life that are not affected by rampaging crime.”
