The recent development of the Menstrual Equity Project in the Bahamas in 2025 was created by Kucoin, a global global cryptocurrency platform founded on the grounds of trust. Gucoin, the Global CSR Foundation, and the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) worked together to develop this initiative.
Dr. Padmini Murthy, AMWA’s global health lead and UN NGO president, and Jing Cesarone, founder and CEO of the Global CSR Foundation, came up with the idea for the project in 2023. The main purpose of the initiative is to provide important support. “Sometimes girls can be home from school during their menstruation because they can’t afford napkins,” Mrs. Davis said at the Dilibution event. “I have not been able to believe in the great need for this product in the Bahamas, an underserved community. I am grateful to my global partner for her much-needed hygiene pad donation.”
In 2023, at the Kucoin Green Future reception held during the COP28 conference, Kucoin expressed a greater commitment to social responsibility, including this contribution. Since then, Kucoin has been actively involved in a variety of other welfare activities. The Republic of Suriname beneficiaries, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Domestic Violence Shelter in New York, received menstrual kits that include hygiene pads and menstrual cups as part of one of its flagship programs, the Menstrual Equity Project. The initial distribution of these kits took place in March 2024. These initial attempts led the initiative to expand its scope to include the Bahamas.
In the Bahamas, the majority of Kucoin’s donations are made up of disposable hygiene pads. These donations will be made possible with the support of the Prime Minister’s spouse’s office. Additionally, it ensures that women are ready to deal with natural catastrophes such as hurricanes and tropical storms.
The distribution of the Feminine Pads initiative, overseen by First Lady’s Office, and the Menstrual Equity Project, which Kucoin is working on, have very similar goals to each other.
