Knots developer Luke Dashjr has added fuel to what some experts are calling the Bitcoin war between the two software that BTC node runners and miners use most: Knot and Bitcoin Core.

Rage directly covered the leak on September 25th, bringing more controversy to the so-called Bitcoin war, which divides the BTC community into two factions. According to an independent publication led by well-known journalist L0LA L33TZ, Luke Dashul may be planning a hard fork to “save Bitcoin.”

In the conversation, we see that solutions to deal with Luke’s Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) are effectively planned for the Bitcoin faction that they consider to be a problem for network and node operators after the Bitcoin Core V30 upgrade is implemented. This upgrade increases the amount of data that can be stored from 80 to 100,000 bytes via OP_Return, allowing applications such as media storage.

A few years ago, knots surged as a core alternative, attempting to rule out what Luke Dashul and his supporters deemed spam and BTC harmful. According to Decrypt, Michael Saylor has shown support for knots in the past, and has doubled recently. Critics say this is an attempt to censor the way people use Bitcoin, and to bring centralization and permission primitives to the system that should theoretically be decentralized and not permitted.

The Bitcoin controversy over Luke Dashjr leaked a message

Luke Dashjr deemed Rage’s work “Fake News” and responded to articles about X and related commentary. However, the Knots developers have not directly denied writing the leaked message.

The account, self-identified as the “Chief Boiling Officer” of Dashjr’s ocean mining pool, came to the developer’s defense. Call out the angry works “ClickBait Journalism” and “Nonsense” with meme images.

Offering a more nuanced view of the issue, Bitcoin Core V30 supporter Udiwahatimer came to the defense of Luke Daschul and launched a harsh criticism of the independent publication, calling it the “Luke Daschul Hit Piece.” Werdheimer said the “hard fork” claims were made against “sloppy, low-quality propaganda works,” explaining the technology behind what is being discussed, and arguing that there is no need to fear hard forks.

As things grow, the Bitcoin war escalates and appears to be far from the end. BTC is currently trading at around $109,500 after a major crash from $114,000 just two days ago on September 24, causing even longer liquidation in the market, failing to reach short-term price forecasts from some analysts, following the historic $1.5 billion long distance event on Monday, September 23rd.
